Head of Product Management

THE POSITION SUMMARY

Location:
Wilmington, DE

College Ave is seeking an experienced Head of Product Management to develop the strategy and associated roadmap for College Ave’s portfolio of financial products within the Higher Education sector.  This will include gathering consumer insights to define and prioritize product additions or modifications, detailing and guiding internal teams and external vendors in all aspects of the product design and implementation, collaborating with marketing peers on related messaging and distribution, and ultimately overseeing product profitability.  This is a new position that reflects the growth and the corresponding increasing complexity of the organization.  As Head of Product Management, the position will be highly visible, and will play an important leadership role.  As such, the successful candidate will have the opportunity and responsibility to help monitor and shape the performance of the business, taking on critical challenges and contributing to the overall strategy and success.

The Team:
The position reports to the Chief Marketing Officer and is part of a Marketing team of 20.

Responsibilities:

  • Take responsibility for the strategic direction, enhancement and financial performance of the College Ave portfolio of products and services
  • Lead and develop the product roadmap to align with customer needs and business objectives
  • Direct market research to understand customer needs and guide related priorities
  • Develop and manage budget, key projects, processes and performance reports
  • Collaborate with Credit/Risk team on the creation and management of credit and pricing models for each product
  • Select correct design concepts and fundamental technology needs for new products or improvement for existing ones
  • Oversee and direct third-party vendors in the technical delivery of projects, including formulating business requirements that will be consumed by technical developers and coordinating internal testing of deliverables
  • Collaborate with marketing peers to define and develop the communications strategy for each product and to track success
  • Collaborate across the internal organization (including the data team, servicing, etc.) to obtain support from and guide related resources to execute projects according to the defined strategy.
  • Provide strategic input into the company’s business plan
  • Monitor latest developments in the higher education market and the student loan competitive set

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

The successful candidate - personal attributes:

  • Experience as a senior manager in a service-focused technology-enabled business which is driven by quality and customer service
  • Strategic vision coupled with operational execution; proven ability to communicate business requirements into technical specifications with third-party vendors
  • Strong relationship management skills that underpin successful vendor and partner management
  • Experience of designing, analyzing and utilizing market research
  • Sound financial and budgetary management with solid commercial acumen
  • Experience in creating products that will be delivered through direct consumer marketing channels
  • An analytical mindset that enables appropriate prioritization of products and features
  • Previous experience of Internet Services and/or a passion for the Internet and related emerging technologies is essential
  • A detail-oriented approach with excellent organization and project management skills.
  • An ability to coordinate and prioritize tasks for multiple stakeholders and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • A strong ability to execute while thinking both strategically and creatively to exploit business opportunities
  • Consumer finance experience is desired
